Chicago

Annette Thigpen, lovingly known as "Mome," was born on October 24, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, to Gennie Mae Thigpen and Theodis Newton Jr. She was the third of eight beautiful children. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her two brothers, Derrick and Douglas.

Annette was known for her compassionate heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for family and community. She accepted Christ at an early age and remained A faithful member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She was always willing to lend A helping hand, offer encouragement, and provide comfort to anyone in need.

Annette was A dedicated and hardworking woman. She graduated from

John Marshall High School and later attended Loop Junior College, where she earned her Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene. She worked for many years as a dental assistant before beginning A new chapter with the City of Chicago, where she faithfully served for 30 years and retired as a construction laborer.

Although Annette did not have children of her own, she gave the gift of unconditional love to her nieces and nephews. She shared an unbreakable bond with her nephew, Artez, and opened both her home and heart to help raise Leeddie, Vilora, Deidra, and Darius from infancy into adulthood. She loved them as her own and took immense pride in their accomplishments. Through her guidance, sacrifices, strength, and unwavering support, that generation became the first in the family to graduate college, serve in the Navy, and pursue professional careers. Her love, wisdom, and legacy will continue to live on through each of them.
