Anthony Ray Essie was born on March 19th, 1954 in Leland Mississippi to the union of Robert and Hertie Essie who proceeds him in death.
Anthony accepted Christ at an early age in Leland Mississippi. The family later moved to Chicago where Anthony attended grammar school and George Westing House College Prep High School.
Ray loved his family with a passion, his devoted wife Mary Essie was the love of his life for over 50 years. He was a very devoted and protective loving husband. Father, brother, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin, brother in law, and those that were lucky enough to call him a friend
Ray was also very passionate about his work which he did with perfection, he worked in carpentry and as an electrician amongst other skills. He was a man with many talents, Ray was also a teacher and a mentor to those that knew him. He loved not only music, but fishing cooking, and people. He was the glue that held everyones bonds.
Everyone will remember Ray as a sharp dresser from head to toe and stepping the night away!

8:20 am Saturday May 9th 2026 at LoyoLa Hospital in Maywood.
He Leaves to cherish his Memory his Loving and devoted wife Mary Essie his daughter Shovonda Fultz, Granddaughter Calresha Temple Grandson Christian Beck. Brother-Robert J. Essie (Windy)
Derry And Keyth Essie Who proceeds him in death.
God Brother-Hubert Williams (Brenda) and God Son Don Williams (Tanuverne). He mentored Victor Johnson (Latisha), and Curtis Hortzag as God sons. Sister, Rose Temple; God sis, Renee Watkins, Special Thank you to YoLonda Essie And Ginnellar Fultz. Long time friends, Francine Griffin, and William Hawkins.
