Bernice Percy

May 1, 1946 — March 10, 2026

Chicago

With profound love and admiration, we honor the life of Bernice Percy, born May 1, 1946 in Gholson, Mississippi. Bernice is the oldest of 5 under the union of Geneva and Ivory Ray. On March 10, 2026, she peacefully transitioned, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Bernice shared a bond with her husband, Otis C. Percy Sr. Together, they built a life and foundation grounded in commitment to their immediate family. She was a proud and devoted mother to her two sons, O. Charles Jr. and Travis, and her stepson, Chris, whom she loved fiercely and supported endlessly.

Her joy multiplied through her grandchildren, Parrysh Percy, Krystasia Percy, and Joseph Percy, and her great-grandchildren, Cameron and Lauren, who were the light of her life. She carried immense pride in each of them, always encouraging them to walk the right path and live with purpose.

Bernice is also survived by her last living sibling, Clifton Ray, her sister-in-law Dianne Ray, along with a host of nieces and nephews who were blessed to experience her warmth, wisdom, and loving spirit.

A dedicated and hardworking woman, Bernice spent over 35 years working for Lawson Products until her retirement in January of 2007. She approached her work and her life with determination, grace, and a spirit that uplifted those around her.

Known for her unwavering love, Bernice gave her heart fully and unconditionally to her family. She was a pillar of strength—unyielding in her support, always optimistic, and forever believing in the potential of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her words carried wisdom, her presence brought comfort, and her laughter filled rooms with joy.

Bernice will be remembered not only for her devotion, but for her beautiful sense of humor, her phenomenal resilience, and the genuine love she poured into every relationship. Although she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.
