Mother Carolyn Jones

Oct 3, 1953 — Aug 24, 2026

Carolyn Jones was born Carolyn Smith to Lady B and Otis Smith Sr on October 3, 1953 in Clarksdale,Mississippi. She came to Chicago as a young girl and attended Chicago Public Schools where her beautiful spirit allowed her to gain many friends from all walks of life.

Throughout her life, Carolyn held various jobs, but while caring for her grandchildren, she discovered her true passion for nurturing children. This passion led her to become a devoted licensed childcare provider, lovingly caring for children and families in need for many years.

Carolyn accepted Christ in 2000 under the leadership of Bishop Jesse and Pastor Marilyn Williams. She found great joy in serving as Bishop’s nurse until she was elevated to the honorable position of Mother of Deliverance Center Church where she lovingly and enthusiastically served through her final days.

Mother Carolyn had a special gift for bringing her family and loved ones together, often doing so through her amazing cooking and baking. She also loved to dance and was known as a great stepper who brought joy and energy wherever she went.

On February 9, 2020 Carolyn married her long time companion, Henry Bush, with whom she shared many special memories.

Mother Carolyn was also known for her strength and resilience; she was a proud breast cancer survivor but many years later, she was diagnosed with liver cancer. With her strong faith in God, she fought the good fight until the morning of August 24, 2026, when God called her home.

Mother Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother and father, Lady B and Otis Smith Sr, her husband Henry Bush, and her grandson Derrick Harris Sr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her four beloved children: Daniel (James), Tiffany, Channetta (Antonio), and Brandis. Her brother Otis Jr. (Tina), her sister Willie Mae, Five grandchildren: Dominique, Brittany, Santwan, Desiree, Demarkus, and Anaysia affectionately known as her “ride or die”, and seven great grandchildren: Derriona, Derrick Jr, Derrion, Juelz, Khalil, Kartier, and Zayden, her DCC family, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mother Carolyn will always be remembered for her warm heart, her love for her family, and the joy she brought wherever she went. She was a beautiful and stylish woman who always dressed to impress. Her strength, wisdom, sense of humor, and love for God made her truly special. Although she will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the memories she created will live in our hearts forever.
