Christopher M. Rankins

June 24, 1983 — February 13, 2026

Chicago

Christopher M. Rankins was born on June 24, 1983 in Chicago, IL to Annette Hardy and Marvin Rankins (Big Chris).

Chris graduated from Manley High School in 2001, laying the foundation for a life built on hard work and perseverance. Committed to furthering his education, he later earned his Master of Science in Business Management in 2017 from University of Phoenix — an accomplishment that reflected his dedication to growth and excellence. Throughout his life, Chris wore many hats professionally. He worked with the City of Chicago Water Department, served as a Library Administrator, and worked as a Social Worker at a shelter, among many other roles.

Chris accepted Christ at a young age at Faith Miracle Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Pastor Shelbert Ramsey Sr. Chris loved his church and singing old time church songs. He was often teased for sending out invitations to attend church for a Holy Ghost good time. His faith was strong and he was not ashamed to share his love of Christ.

Chris touched the lives of many with his love, laughter, and his beautiful smile. Chris loved to travel all over the world. He would have family get togethers at the beach or park. He loved to take everyone to different amusement parks. He loved to listen to music and dance (off beat of course lol) He was known for his kind heart and welcoming spirit. He had a way of making everyone feel at home, no matter where they were. Family meant everything to him, and he cherished the time spent with those he loved. Those simple moments became treasured memories that will live on forever.

Chris leaves to mourn his loss: His mother Annette Hardy and father Marvin Rankins, Sisters: Tiffany (Tip) Hardy, Tiona Rankins, Danielle Crawford and Taketia Crawford, Brothers: Marvin T. Rankins and Marvin Rankins Jr., Play Mom: Paulette Reese, Best Cousins: Valeshia (Shon) Hardy and Monchoya (Trice) Ramsey. A host of family and friends.

Though his time here feels far too short, his legacy of love will continue through the countless lives he have impacted. He will be deeply missed, always remembered, and forever loved.
