Jimmy D. Roberts

Jimmy Dale Roberts was born on July 27, 1948, in Lula, Mississippi, to Mokialey Roberts and Surella Summers.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, McKinley & Surella Roberts; his son, Vern Aaron Roberts Sr; his granddaughter, Brittney Williams; and his siblings, May-Rena, Leflora, Tommie, McKinley Jr., Howard, Nelson, Eddie, Robbi, Miller, Bessy, and Wretha.

Jimmy later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he attended Marshall High School. On August 7, 1968, he married Marcelona Owens. From their union came three children, Jimmy Dale JI., Vern Aaron, and Leuteresa.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Jimmy was employed by Hoagies for 10 years and worked at his family's restaurant for more than 20 years. Outside of work, he enjoyed barbecuing, gardening, listening to music, and spending time with his loved ones. Family gatherings brought him great joy, and he especially enjoyed bringing everyone together. Jimmy also attended Jordan Temple on occasion with his daughter, Teresa.

Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory his children, Jimmy Dale Jr. and Leuteresa, and his grandchildren, Brandon and Brianna (Teresa), Vern Jr. and Kandace (Vern), and Byron, Sebion.

He also leaves behind one brother, Bob Roberts; two sisters, Arvella Terrell and May Frances Mitchell; his dear friend, Dorothy; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Jimmy will be remembered for his love of family, his strong work ethic, and the joy he found in life's simple moments. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love, laughter, and memories he shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
