Today, we gather not in sorrow, but in celebration, celebration of a life that began with purpose and unfolded with meaning.
On January 29, 1955, the world was gifted with the arrival of Kathy Glasper, born in Chicago, Illinois, to Jack and Inez Harrison. From her very first breath, she carried a light that would go on to touch countless lives.
Kathy accepted Christ at an early age, grounding her life in faith and values that guided her throughout her journey. She attended Richard T. Crane High School, where her vibrant personality and unmistakable presence were already evident. She grew into a woman of grace, strength, and compassion, someone whose presence made others feel seen, valued, and loved. Her life was a beautiful mosaic of moments: laughter shared, wisdom offered, challenges met with courage, and love given freely.
In 1971, Kathy married Damaso Landor, and from this union were born two children, Yolanda Baker and Damasco Landor. In 1978, she met the love of her life, Amos Glasper Jr., with whom she shared 38 wonderful years of love, partnership, and devotion until his passing. From this union, she gave birth to her son, Derrick Amos Glasper, and lovingly gained a daughter, Vanessa Hurley.
Kathy explored various career paths before answering her true calling in home health care, a profession that reflected her caring and compassionate spirit. She devoted more than 20 years to providing comfort, care, and support to countless individuals and families.
Kathy had a unique way of bringing people together. She celebrated others, lifted spirits, and reminded us, often without words what truly matters. She enjoyed joking, music, dancing, fashion, smiling, playing cards, and singing. Her personality was unmatched—sarcastic, outspoken, loving, loud, and always the life of the party.
On January 28, 2026, Kathy departed this earthly life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Inez Harrison; her siblings, Larry Harrison, Linda Jackson, Mary McClarien, and Gregory Harrison; and her brother-in-law, George Glasper.
Kathy leaves to cherish her memory her loving siblings, Gloria Harrison and Sandra Lyles; her sister-in-law, Jessie Glasper; her children, Yolanda (Fred), Damasco (Kimberly), Derrick (Sheena), and Vanessa (Kevin); 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Today, we honor her journey from birth to this moment not as an ending, but as a life lived well and a love that continues. Though she has transitioned from our sight, her spirit lives on through us and the lessons she taught, the memories we treasure, and the love we will always carry.
So let us celebrate her. Let us smile, laugh, and remember with gratitude, because Kathy Glasper’s life was a blessing, and her story will continue to be told through each of us.
