Kayla Saquita Austin

May 18, 1991 — February 27, 2026

Chicago

Kayla Saquita Austin was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Gloria Perry and Tommie Austin Jr on May 18, 1991. Kayla accepted Christ at an early age, and was a member of Lively Stone Baptist Church. Her favorite scripture was Matthew 5:5 “Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the Earth.”

Kayla grew up on the west side of Chicago. She graduated from Steinmetz College Prep in 2009, and shortly after gave birth to her only son, Kamorri Austin. She was a person with many talents and later used her skills to explore in sales, logistics, and culinary arts. She ended her journey as a Manager at The Waffle House Food Chain in Lexington, Tennessee.

Kayla was truly a free spirited, loving, affectionate, and enjoyable person; to know her was to love her. She was the one person you could count on to show you a great time, fill your day with laughs, and always guaranteed to make every experience memorable. She was the youngest of 12, and she’d never let you forget it. Everyone always joked about her being a brat and a baby, she always had to have her way, but we wouldn’t have changed it for the world. Kayla loved and enjoyed so many things about life, but what meant more to her than anything on Earth was having her son. He was her world and she’d move mountains for him.

Kayla was a devoted Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend. She was called home by God on Friday February 27, 2026. Kayla was preceded in death by her Father (Tommie Austin Jr.), Mother (Gloria Perry), and her Grandparents (Bubber G. Price, Gloria Campbell, Tommie Austin Sr., and Patricia Rankin). She leaves to cherish her son (Kamorri Austin), her father (Thomas Perry Sr), her siblings (Cecylia Austin, Jermaine Austin, Ronnie Austin, Miguel Austin, Thomas Shelton, Tywan Shelton, Kemitashi Austin, Thomas Perry Jr, Ezra Austin, Alvin Keys, and Jermaine Bennett), her Aunts and Uncles, (Torrey Price, Brian Austin, Steve Austin, Lolita Logan, Deborah Truman, Cassandra Robinson, Monica Price, and Lashonda Conner), along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
