Mr. Steve Tingle Sr. (affectionately known as” Sweet Tee”) was born on November 22, 1959, to the union of John Hershel Tingle Sr. and Bernice Austin Tingle at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL.
Both parents whom he loved so dearly, two brothers: James Edward Tingle Sr. (Ed), Johnny Hershel Tingle Jr., his sister: Diane Tingle, great-granddaughter: Carmen Waltermire and his beloved wife Jacqueline (Annette) Tingle all preceded him in death.
Steve accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Dr. Reverend Blumenberg while attending Greater White Stone Missionary Baptist Church alongside his Mom, Aunt and family. He attended Tilton and West Garfield Upper Grade Center during his adolescent years. While attending John H. Marshall High School, Steve had sudden obligations which halted his studies. He later obtained his G.E.D. , while mastering many skill sets. Not letting anything hold him back, Steve went on to receiving three Associate’s Degree Certifications in (Electrical, Plumbing and Carpentry). To top things off he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree which later helped him in obtaining his Senior Set-Up Operations /Machinery positions. Steve had a wealth of knowledge and skills. From working at Briar Molding, Switchcraft, American Flange to retiring from Transilwrap Company, Steve put his work in.
He always said: “Feet Don’t Fail Me Now” as he became the Westside and Southside Mr. MacGyver.
As Steve mastered all of his crafts (gifts), there was nothing he wouldn’t try to do or fix. He loved strategy.
He wore many different hats and maintained many personal relationships with any and everyone he came in contact with. His infectious smile and signature ponytail is what made him, “Sweet Tee the Sweetest of the Tees”. Steve was the neighborhood DJ, an avid skater and a smooth stepper.
Sweet Tee departed this life on August 14, 2026 at 8:30pm surrounded by his loving family. Finding out that Steve was an organ donor was not a surprise because of his big heart that he possessed. Today, we honor him for his selfless decision to help others in death as he did in life.
