Tyrean Kamari Owens Jr. was born on July 13, 2007, in Chicago, Illinois. From the very beginning, Tyrean carried a bold presence and a vibrant energy that could fill any room. With his confident walk, bright smile, and playful spirit, he made sure you knew when he had arrived.
As the youngest, Tyrean brought laughter and life into his family. He shared a special bond with his mother, Catherine Mitchell, who loved him deeply and covered him in prayer. He was protective of his sisters and loyal to those he loved. Beneath his confident exterior was a young man with a big heart — caring, devoted, and deeply connected to his family.
Tyrean began his education at Rodolfo Lozano Elementary School, where he proudly graduated from the 8th grade. He went on to attend Jones College Prep before completing his high school journey at Innovations High School.
He had a love for traveling, basketball, and spending time with his family and friends. Whether he was spending time at home, out exploring new places, or simply enjoying moments with the people closest to him, Tyrean lived with energy and authenticity. He valued loyalty and stood firmly beside those he cared about.
On January 1, 2026, Tyrean made the decision to join New Life Covenant Southeast, marking a significant step in his spiritual journey. It reflected a desire for growth and a deeper connection to faith as he entered a new chapter of his life.
On February 15, 2026, at the age of 18, Tyrean departed this earthly world. Though his time here was brief, his impact was lasting. His smile, his laughter, and his presence will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tyrean Owens; his grandparents, Clifford and Julia Owens; and his uncle, Eric Owens.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Catherine Mitchell; grandparents Angeline Johnson and Dan Mitchell; great-grandparents Shirley Herron and Daniel Mitchell; his sisters Derrinisha Arrington (Cedric), Khiyana Magee, and Deijha Owens; his aunts Jacqulyn Owens and Gabrielle Mitchell; his uncles Kevin Johnson, Toby Prude, Demond Billiops, and Dante Clayton; and a host of family and friends who will continue to carry his legacy forward.
